The clock ticks...

...and ticks. Mubarak seems to have been clinging on to power by the skin of his teeth for some time now. Well, 17 days anyway. The most interesting fact I discovered about Egypt during these events is that Egypt has been in an official state of crisis for 30 years. So I guess the last 17 days is no big deal. By the sounds of the news this evening he may well be gone by the time I post this, so this image will probably be already out of date!

Recession stupid

So the tories put the recessionary growth figures down to the weather huh? Even the sympathetic media can see through their 'dog ate my homework' excuses. C'mon Dave where's the good news?

No craft carrier

Apparently in a few years time we will have an aircraft carrier or two.... but no planes to fly off them. For NINE years! So we will effectively have some large defenceless car parks bobbing around the ocean for the best part of a decade at huge cost. I tried to capture the 'carry on regardless' mentality which makes up the British character. We will definitely need a sense of humour if the tories continue like this.

So George Osborne's big day today. Cuts cuts and more cuts. Will it improve the situation or not that is the question. I have no idea - it seems the more I learn about economics the less I know. What I do know is that Osborne's nose looks to me like a bell end.

Stop me if...

...you've heard this one before. Ok so I had this idea for a gag then half way through drawing it up I had this nasty feeling. Had I seen it before? Someone must have come up with it. Had I seen it? God knows i've looked at enough cartoons in my lifetime. This must be a familiar scenario with cartoonists. Actually this must be a familiar scenario for many: the song writer who writes a song only to realise they have used the chord changes from Hey Jude. I guess this is why I prefer doing political cartoons - if they are topical they have to be new. So onward, I checked with Google images - nothing. That's not to say it's not out there - how much time am I supposed to spend looking?

The cat in the bin.

When I saw the infamous video of the woman putting the cat in the bin I was a bit vexed. It was so incredible I started to suspect I was being spoofed. Was it a set up? It sure looked real. So today the truth comes out, the culprit was real - a seemingly normal middle aged women called mary Bale from Coventry. Now I am even more vexed - what on earth was she thinking?

Naomi fail

The latest illo to be rejected by 'Britain's favourite satire magazine' Probably a bit overcomplicated - but it's a complicated story huh? Picture the scene: a warlord sits down to dinner with a supermodel and an Hollywood star amongst others. Who knows the details: Was it a set menu? Aperitifs? Soft music? It would have been a hell of an episode of come dine with me.
